A New Chapter is Here
Our 1984 converted horse trailer, named Juliette, is being used for jewelry pop-ups at select art fairs, weddings, and other private parties! You might be wondering, why name her Juliette? Well, we wanted to be fun and still maintain a sense of romance with our jewelry lines, that's why we named our car Romeo. No matter where Juliette goes, Romeo is there to accompany her :)
We have been dreaming big, and those dreams were put into reality when we purchased Juliette in the midst of the Minnesota winter in February 2025. Before becoming what we know her today as Juliette, the trailer exchanged owners couple of times hauling horses in rural Minnesota. Like so many vintage horse trailers of this era, they are becoming outdated in terms of age and size, and many have fallen into disuse and sits abandoned. We got our hands on Juliette, determined to bring her back to life for something bigger and better.
Despite its rough looking interior and exterior, the structural frame and the floorboards were in good shape - meaning it saved us countless hours of restoration work. We bought Juliette in February 2025 and she had to sit through two months of winter until the restoration could finally start at the beginning of April. It was a stressful time for us as we already had two events planned for Juliette in May and we had barely any work done to her! When we did eventually start, we started with the metal plate sanding on the oval wall plates at the front of Juliette to prep her for paint base and the eventual paint.
The next phase to Juliette's restoration was completely stripping the two side walls and the back doors down to its frame. The paint base then came on, but we ran into some hiccups along the way for the actual paint color, as the first color we choose made Juliette look SUPER white and a tad bit shiny. Back to Home Depot we went and picked out a better paint the second time around.
Once all the paint job was completed, Juliette was ready to be "reassembled" back together with all the woodwork. Planks were added back to the walls, and a window opening was built, like how other mobile bars were built. When the walls were put up, our first impression was it felt like walking into a sauna with how much wood was used to wrap around Juliette. At one point, we even floated the idea of having a partial glass roof to allow natural daylight shine through, but that was scrapped because of how hot that could cause the interior to be. Natural light and jewelry? What more could you ask for? ;)
The most fun of the whole process was designing the interior, where we build custom storage spaces, shelves to display our handmade pieces, a section for a charm bar, and even a sink at the front of the so we can have an area to serve mocktails for private parties! Designing Juliette began a few months before we actually bought her so you can tell we were excited and eager! To top everything off (literally), we even added a solar panel on top of Juliette so she is completely energy sufficient! Talk about how technologically advanced she is :)
We hope to catch you at one of our private events or an art show and come see Juliette in person!
